In New Jersey, family child care (FCC) providers can care for up to five children for a fee without needing a license. However, FCC providers can volunteer to register with the state's registration program. Community Coordinated Child Care registers monitors and trains providers in Union County. This allows them to receive training, technical assistance and monitoring visits. Registered providers are included in the CCCC referral system. This system provides child care referrals to parents in Union County.

NOTE: Family Child Care Providers are NOT CCCC employees.

Family Child Care Provider vs. Approved Home Provider

Registered family child care providers care for up to five children in their home for a fee. CCCC will pay subsidy to registered family child care providers.

An approved home provider is a person a parent has chosen to care for their child while they are at work. This person is usually a family member, friend or neighbor. The person who will be caring for the child must have their home approved by CCCC in order to receive payment. CCCC will also pay subsidy to approved home providers.

Providers caring for children on a subsidy program (ex: Work First or NJ Cares for Kids) are paid through the E-Child Care system. Click here e-Child Care for important information.
