Cooling Off

Cooling Off!

As the hottest days quickly approach, everyone enjoys cooling off. Healthy Child Care America suggests that child care providers use sprinklers, not wading pools, for groups of children to reduce germs and bacteria. Remember to follow these guidelines for safe water fun.

1. Position sprinkler so water drains easily.
2. Move sprinkler often so puddles do not form.
3. Carefully supervise children so they do not run and collide.
4. Make sure children wear sunscreen and younger children wear t-shirts to prevent sunburn.
5. Keep plenty of drinking water on hand to prevent dehydration.
6. Keep children out of the sun during the hottest time of the
day, between 11am and 3pm.
